“Solo” explores a woman’s inner conflict as she navigates her fraught relationship with the public space in Cairo. Through the lens of desire, fear, and everyday rituals, the film reflects on how social pressures shape women’s movement, vulnerability, and sense of safety within the city. Shot on 35mm film at the Academy of Arts – High Institute of Cinema in Cairo, the film blends intimate visual storytelling with subtle emotional textures. Released in 2009, Solo received the Best Short Film Award at the Alexandria film Festival. Its quiet tone and dreamlike imagery reflect a deeply personal search for connection and meaning.
